IFU Graduate Program
The IFU Graduate Program is located at IMK-IFU, the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research - Atmospheric Environmental Research in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It provides qualification and career development for its early-career researchers, i.e. roughly 70 PhD students and postdocs from various disciplines such as physics, meteorology, geography, chemistry, biology, landscape ecology and environmental sciences who work at our institute on different aspects of climate and land use change.
The qualification and career development activities include
- Scientific skills training, e.g. the MICMoR Summer Schools and Technical Short Courses
- Professional skills training, e.g. on how to publish in peer-reviewed journals, to give presentations, to acquire third-party grants
- Exchange and networking events, e.g. the monthly PhD Seminar or the ATMO PhD Days
- Career events, e.g. career days with insights into different career fields and options
- Career coaching, e.g. with regard to career development and next career steps (international mobility, third party acquisition, application for research positions).
- Support measures, e.g. onboarding activities, counseling in crisis
With these activities we aim to support our early-career researchers and best prepare them for their future careers, both within and outside academia. For more information see the IFU Graduate Programs website.
